Systems in motion. Generations, territories, networks and professions for the performing arts

What are the conditions that allow an artist or a cultural organization to grow, train and structure themselves in the world of contemporary performing arts, particularly in public spaces? Starting from the experience of three entities active in the sector - all supported by the Ministry of Culture through the Single Fund for Entertainment, Article 45 - Transversal actions with a focus on generational turnover - the panel proposes a choral reflection on development models capable of combining experimentation, professionalization and territorial roots.

In a context like the Italian one, where intermediate organizations still represent a poorly structured model, we will discuss the role that these can play in promoting paths of accompaniment and connection between artists, public administrations, international networks and concrete job opportunities. Outdoor Arts Italia, as a national platform and intermediate reality, engages with entities such as Quattrox4 and Circo all’InCirca to question possible forms of collaboration and the value of networks as development infrastructures.

From the metropolitan to the peripheral, from the urban to the regional, the territories in which the three organizations operate offer a further key to understanding: how are artistic and productive practices shaped in response to different needs? What are the necessary conditions for a fertile “ecosystem”? The discussion will broaden to the theme of working conditions, the cultural supply chain and the need to recognize the economic and professional value of artistic and organizational skills. Finally, starting from the observation of international models such as that of FiraTàrrega and the presentation of the OUT IT platform, the panel aims to stimulate a debate on tools, visions and system policies that make the sector more sustainable, accessible and interconnected. An opportunity to imagine, together, how to build a future for the arts in public spaces.
