OUT & OUTit Showcase
This program comprises both digital and in-person actions designed to promote Italian artistic excellence in public spaces, supporting the mobility of artists and the expansion of Italian works into national and international distribution circuits. Through periodic calls, innovative and compelling proposals are selected for a program that facilitates touring and presentation to national and international operators. The program equally values cultural products and the professional development of operators, providing specific accompaniment to enhance the expertise of artists, artistic directors, and production managers of festivals and events.
The program include:
- online pitches for ready-to-tour or in-creation projects;
- international focus programs featuring Italian artistic proposals within international festivals;
- presentations of companies, trends, spaces, and networks;
- online showcases through showcase.outdoorarts.it;
- in-person showcases presenting selected performances to national and international programmers;
- webinars, talks, and specific consultations for production chain operators.
OUTit Art Lab
This is a structured program of training content aimed at all operators in the public space performance sector. The content is primarily accessible and usable digitally via the OUTit Platform. Its objective is to develop both artistic competencies for new scenic and performative writing in public spaces, and technical competencies to provide or consolidate knowledge in administrative, technical, logistical, productive, and distributive fields. This includes foundational knowledge of artistic production, project management, and marketing strategies.
FNAS Lab
It is the historic high-level training program for artistic writing in public spaces. It has historically guided many artists in acquiring comprehensive knowledge for dramaturgy that explores new avenues for dialogue between the artistic act and its public context.
Starting in 2025, the program will finalize its training objectives around specific creative projects of the students. This aims to foster a transition from experiential writing to potential productive finalization, accompanying projects towards production and dissemination channels.
Participation is linked to the submission of an artistic creation project, selected based on motivation, research innovation, experimental language, adherence to UN agenda themes and production sustainability. It includes access to specific content from the online training program; contextual webinars (from OutIt Art Lab) covering sociological, urban, philosophical, anthropological, legislative, technical, administrative and productive aspects.
The Lab could be related to a creative residency with an international mentor specializing in public space creation. The program allows participants to experiment outside their comfort zone, learn from others' project development, acquire different research and writing techniques, test materials in various contexts; it promotes "hybridization" of material, nurturing inspiration; helps refine project objectives and potential; accompanies the most deserving projects into a mentoring process for market entry.
OUT International
A continuous program of participation in B2B sector events, through which we exerts a representative role for the Italian performing arts sector in public spaces and contribute to the internationalization of Italian companies and festivals. Actions primarily stem from the decade-long role within the Circostrada International Network, where Eleonora Ariolfo, Director of Outdoor Arts Italia, was recently elected to the executive Steering Committee.
It includes:
- co-designing network actions such as General Meetings and Fresh Street;
- hosting and organizing network events or local development of programs like Dive, Bounce, and Spark;
- sharing sector analyses and amplifying international surveys;
- developing specific projects with network partners to facilitate artistic mobility;
- analyzing and writing projects for European contribution program;
- implementing network connections, developing quality contacts, and planning specific knowledge-sharing actions;
- sharing expertise and comparing best practices;
- participating in roundtables and presenting content on Italian culture at festivals and other events;
- opening new markets.
Focus OUT
The support for creation and artistic mobility, immediately impacts information and promotion within selected European circuits. Furthermore this type of international showcases are co-designed as "windows of Italian creativity" within international festivals. Support for artistic mobility includes covering travel and hospitality expenses for selected companies, facilitating young artists' access to international circuits, with funding sought through convergence with other existing contribution lines for touring.
Talks & Projects
Program of public events, study days, meetings and conferences to delve into the development and promotion of the circus and urban theater sector. This also initiates studies, comparisons, and co-design actions with European partners to define and enhance the systemic role of "intermediate organizations" (middle organizations), with a view to potential European project proposals on the theme.
Focus Nazionale Arti in Strada
FNAS is now a dedicated project for sector promotion and an editorial tool for the analysis and dissemination of political, social, anthropological and urban themes related to artistic expression in public spaces. The Focus addresses both the professional approach and the one more closely linked to free expression and street art. It is implemented through an online editorial program (www.fnas.it) and a parallel program of in-person events such as conferences, study days, and specific talks. It maintains a specific focus on sensitizing political decision-makers, producing analytical reports based on data from the digital platform to provide data-driven indications and guidelines for cultural policy development. The Focus explores current issues, informs the public and supports political, social, and cultural objectives through in-depth analyses, studies, articles, and interviews with experts. Key themes include the value of free artistic expression and the professionalization of the sector in terms of legality and workplace safety.
The key in presence event is the annual conference "Lo Stato dell'Arte". It addresses key questions on how, who, and especially where public performances take place, focusing on professionalism, the recognition of outdoor arts, overcoming linguistic barriers, the journey towards a new entertainment code and the importance of mapping new professions. It also considers culture as a production chain, aiming to balance market processes with artistic integrity.
