When an organisation, a festival or a public administration chooses to work with Outdoor Arts Italia, it activates a system that generates qualified work for artists and companies.
We design and manage dedicated calls, and selection processes are always shared: artistic choices are defined together with the client and OAI’s artistic direction, ensuring that the programme reflects both the cultural objectives and the specific context in which the intervention takes place.
This approach also underpins the current event curated by Outdoor Arts Italia at ChorusLife Arena in Bergamo, running until 5 January. It is a concrete example of how we build tailor-made projects together with commissioners, while at the same time strengthening and promoting the outdoor arts sector.
If you are an organisation or institution planning performing arts projects in public space, we are available to work together on clear, sustainable and transparent pathways.
With 21 artists involved, 87 performances scheduled, and an incalculable number of wow moments, smiles and applause, the project curated by Outdoor Arts Italia at ChorusLife Bergamo clearly demonstrates our way of co-creating bespoke programmes with commissioners, while enhancing the outdoor arts field.
Season’s greetings to all of us!
Every time we take on the role of organisers, we start from a set of principles that, for us, are non-negotiable. Organising a performance first and foremost means creating fair, safe and respectful working conditions for everyone involved.
This is a choice that protects performers, audiences and commissioners alike, and restores dignity to the cultural labour chain. Behind every performance there is an organisational structure made up of people: those who coordinate, those who negotiate and draft contracts, those who send out calls and invitations, those who welcome artists on site, those who select artistic proposals and follow every stage of the process. They are workers in every sense, and as such must be recognised and fairly remunerated.
Alongside performances, OAI also promotes consultancy activities, conferences, meetings and opportunities for discussion. In this way, the resources generated by events are reinvested in the sector, strengthening skills, protections and quality in performing arts in public space.
